Ivy Plus Libraries Appoints Director of Resource Sharing Initiatives
The Ivy Plus Libraries, a partnership of 13 academic research libraries, are extraordinarily pleased to announce the appointment of Heidi Nance as Director of Resource Sharing Initiatives. Nance comes to the Ivy Plus Libraries from the University of Washington, where she served as the Head of Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Services & Special Projects Librarian for Scholarly Communications. She brings over a decade of experience in leading interlibrary loan, document delivery, and consortial resource-sharing initiatives and operations at the University of Washington and across the Orbis Cascade Alliance. She earned a bachelor of arts in English at Seattle Pacific University and a master of library and information science at the University of Washington.
Duke University Joins BorrowDirect Library Partnership
BorrowDirect is pleased to announce that Duke University has joined the eleven partner libraries to engage in resource sharing and other collaborative library projects. The Duke Libraries are one of the nation’s top 10 private research libraries with a combined collection of over 6.5 million volumes. "Researchers at Duke will benefit greatly from enhanced access to the library collections of the BorrowDirect institutions," said Deborah Jakubs, Rita DiGiallonardo Holloway University Librarian and Vice Provost for Library Affairs at Duke University. BorrowDirect offers faculty, students, and staff at all partner institutions expedited delivery of items from a combined collection of over 60 million volumes. Since its inception in 1999, BorrowDirect has successfully filled over 2 million user requests with book delivery in 3 – 5 days.
Borrow in Person with BorrowDirect PLUS
Under a new agreement students, faculty, and staff from BorrowDirect institutions plus Duke University will have borrowing privileges at all member libraries beginning October 1, 2014. The BorrowDirect online platform continues to offer access to material from partner libraries and with BorrowDirect Plus, eligible users will be able to conduct research on-site and establish local borrowing privileges at all participating libraries. Johns Hopkins Joins BorrowDirect Library Partnership
BorrowDirect is pleased to announce that Johns Hopkins University has joined the ten partner libraries to engage in resource sharing and other collaborative library projects. "We were honored to be invited to participate in this consortium," said Winston Tabb, Sheridan Dean of University Libraries and Museums. "This is an extraordinary opportunity for us to open up the collections of some of the nation's premier research libraries to our users. At the same time, we are able to share the riches of our own holdings with scholars from the other 10 member schools. This is a truly innovative partnership, which draws on the respective strengths of each institution to enable each of us to better serve our own faculty and students."
